Create a more just and humane world

Critical minds create freedom

That's what our Jesuit vision teaches us. When you examine attitudes, challenge assumptions, and analyze motives, you find deeper meaning. With love-filled and faith-filled decisions, you make this world better for everyone.

Our rich history dates back to 1540, when Saint Ignatius of Loyola founded the Society of Jesus, whose members are called Jesuits. For more than 450 years, Jesuits have focused on excellence in education, establishing schools and universities around the world. They were among the earliest settlers in New Orleans and Louisiana, eventually establishing what would become Loyola University.

A Jesuit education inspires you to be your best self—to develop your talents to the fullest, to respect others, and to pursue justice. You will learn from experience, often by helping the local community. At Loyola you will develop an ethical leadership style, hone your communication skills, and become someone who pursues excellence.
